A live video viewing can help narrow an Istanbul property shortlist before a visit. It is most useful when you agree on what will be shown in advance and keep a written list of anything the camera cannot establish.
Confirm the exact apartment
Ask for the address, unit number, floor and a floor plan before the call. Confirm whether the footage will show the available apartment, a furnished show unit or a similar apartment. Ask separately for the current asking price and availability; an older video cannot confirm either.
Request a continuous walk-through
Begin at the building entrance if access permits. Follow the normal route through the lobby, lift or stairs, then enter the apartment. A continuous walk-through makes it easier to understand the layout than a collection of short close-ups.
- Show each room from the doorway and the opposite corner.
- Open curtains and show the actual outlook from the windows.
- Show kitchen storage, appliance spaces and bathroom ventilation.
- Pause at areas where there are visible marks, damage or unfinished work.
- Show the balcony, terrace or storage space if it is included and accessible.
Ask questions the camera may miss
Ask about noise at different times, mobile reception, internet options, heating and cooling arrangements, and any building work currently taking place. Treat answers as information to verify: a microphone can suppress background noise and exposure settings can make a room appear brighter.
Ask the presenter to relate room dimensions to the floor plan. Video perspective is not a reliable measurement tool. If a room must accommodate particular furniture, request the relevant measurements rather than relying on appearance.
Keep a follow-up list
Separate confirmed details from open questions. Request written clarification of included fixtures, ongoing building charges and any areas you were unable to see. Ask permission before recording a call; otherwise take notes and request photographs of specific details afterwards.
A video viewing does not establish title, structural condition or the accuracy of documents. Arrange the appropriate independent checks and an in-person visit when needed before making a commitment.
Next, compare apartment layouts, prepare your viewing checklist or plan a viewing trip.
